Cayuga Lake Wine Trail's Greyhound Wine Tour & Friends!
The Cayuga Wine Trail has gone to the dogs! We have invited not just Greyhounds this year but other breeds as well! These are new and exciting changes for us.
July 23rd through July 26th, 2009.
Enjoy four fun filled days of commraderie with fellow greyhound owners and other canine families. This weekend is dedicated to greyhounds and all dog families where part of the ticket proceeds benefits adoption/rescue, SPCA's, and lots of canine critters. Partake in the captivating scenery of the Finger Lakes region with its magnificent views, waterfalls, hiking trails and gorgeous vineyards.
You will be welcomed at sixteen wineries along the trail for wine tastings, lawn concerts, great food, dog land and water demonstrations, seminars and lots of fun! Visit vendors and adoption agencies at the wineries along the trail at most of the wineries. Please bring dog(s) papers and make sure that they are on 6 foot leashes at all time. A schedule of events will follow as plans are finalized. For vendors and/or shelters please go to the bottom of this page and fill in and forward appropriate forms to the Cayuga Wine Trail office.

Each attendee will receive a wine glass, a Cayuga Wine Trail gift, doggie treats, wine and food pairings at each winery plus recipes to take home.
You may order your tickets online on the reservation page under Trail Events, by calling 800-684-5217 or by mailing your check with the reservation form from the website to

You may also purchase your tickets at a Wegmans Supermarket store near you,
Or purchase them the day of the event for $5.00 more. Advance tickets $25.00 day of event $30.00.
You can start at any of the wineries depending of course on which day you plan to start your fun-filled weekend. As plans are finalized starting point wineries will be listed. It is important to start at your starting point winery in order to receive your wine glass and all your goodies.
Advance sale ticket buyers will receive a ticket with all participating wineries listed, map in the Cayuga Wine Trail brochure and an itinerary by email as the event gets closer.You can start the event at any time during regularly scheduled business hours during the event.
Thursday at Montezuma only 6:00-9:00;
King Ferry and Long Point on Friday Noon-5:00;
Saturday and Sunday 10:00-5:00pm
Other scheduled events for the weekend will be listed as they are finalized.
Don't miss the Ice Cream social at Cayuga Ridge on Friday at 5:00 before heading to the Friday night concert held at Buttonwood Vineyards.
On Sunday enjoy breakfast at 9:00am at Americana Vineyards before walking to Taughannock Falls at 10:00.
Once you begin the event at your starting point winery you may visit as many wineries as you like. Sit a spell and enjoy the scenery with a glass of your favorite wine or head on down to the next winery of your choice. All dogs are welcome at all the wineries. There are a few that prohibit dogs inside the wineries due to restaurant constrictions.
A wine tasting is a lot of fun. At first you will be directed to receive your wine and food pairing which is part of the event and then after that you’ll have your choice of wines from the winery list to embellish. Just let your server know what your preference is dry, sweet, red or white wine.
As their pouring the wine into your Greyhound Wine Glass the server will give a little explanation about the wine. Some wineries offer special discounts for the weekend and also have a standing discount policy depending on how many bottles you purchase. What’s important is to relax, try some great wines and enjoy yourself.
Children and people who do not drink wine are welcome. They may purchase a designated driver ticket for $5.00 less the ticketed price and will receive all of the token gifts but instead of wine they will receive another type of refreshment.
Doggie Info:
All dogs need to be on a leash for safety and control reasons when you are on winery property.
Your dog rabies tags are sufficient for winery visits and state park visits but if you plan to camp in a state park your dog rabies certificate is required.
If your dog should become ill or injured during your visit we will post a veterinarian and a Hospital in the area for your convenience.
Water bowls and small pools for wading will be provided by the wineries.
Doggie bags are provided to take car of doggie waste.
Please be courteous in depositing waste in available trash cans at the wineries and in the park.
Please be careful about leaving your hounds in the car during the hot days of summer.
Please keep your pets safer with a friend or family member if you decide to do a wine tasting and not bring your dog in the winery.
Our Greyhound Wine Tour & Friends has started off as a primarily Greyhound event in the past. However due to allowing multiple breeds this year you do need to keep an eye on your pet.
Small breed dogs can be taken inside the wineries just be alert if another dog becomes agitated and may consider the small dog or cat as dinner.
